Ian
Morris lives in Corolla, NC, where he manages an outdoor recreational
business, Corolla Outback. Born
and raised in Norfolk, VA, he is a graduate of
William and Mary with a BA in History.
Ian's
great love is the outdoors, the water, and all that goes with it. He owns a
center cockpit fishing boat that regularly runs miles offshore out of Oregon
Inlet to catch marlin, sail, stripers, and whatever else is running that
day. He has served professiona lly as mate on several megayachts and private
sportfishermen.
Over Christmas and New Years, 2003/4 we visited Ian
who was celebrating with Heather in Virginia Beach. On New Years Eve, Ian
took me fishing off the Outer Banks. We caught 4 rockfish, each close to 40"
and weighing 20-25 lbs. We froze the filets and delighted in the
delicious
dinners they provided.
In February, 2005, Ian flew to Georgetown, Exumas
and spent a week aboard Celebrate. Although the wind had us socked in
Elizabeth Harbour too long, we did make it out and he led the successful
hunt for fresh meat! We caught two huge (for me) mahis, filleted them
immediately, and had great grill that night. There's something about eating
fish that was swimming less than four hours before! It's documented a bit in
Bahama Daze!

Roger Wistar lives in Lakeville CT, where he
teaches math and computer science
at the
Hotchkiss School. For the last four years he held a similar
position at Northfield-Mt. Hermon in
northwestern Massachusetts. Roger grew up in Baltimore, and graduated from
Duke University in 1998 with a BA in Computer Science.
Roger has been an outdoorsman forever, with
camping, hiking, and skiing always a factor. When he was 13, he completed a
40 mile hike in a single day with his Boy Scout troop. Roger coaches JV
Basketball, instructs golf, and serves as advisor to a lot of
students.
In
August, 2004, Roger and Marcie Pierce were married. It's all happened at Hotchkiss, a truly unique venue for the rehearsal
dinner, the ceremony, the reception, and brunch on Sunday. We could not
resist hanging a few off-topic pictures on our Down
East Circle Loop Leg 5!
In March, 2005 they spent part of their spring
break aboard Celebrate in the Exumas. That's covered in
Spring Break.

Jean
and Chuck Wistar have lived in Williamsburg, VA, for over 28 years following
his retirement after a career with Alcoa. She's a great bridge player, and
he's a great golfer. Make sure you get strokes - he shot an 86 when he was
87! She wins $.25 lots of nights at the bridge table.
Over the years, the family has had many boats
that were enjoyed on the waters of Barnegat Bay in NJ, and in the Thousand
Islands region of New York. That's where I learned my own love of boating
and the sea. What a legacy!
